Taylor Swift’s New Song ‘Gorgeous’ is…Gorgeous!

Taylor announced her new song ‘Gorgeous’ on Thursday with a teaser of the beginning of the song and 2 pink posts that read ‘Midnight Eastern’ and ‘Available Everywhere’.

I’ll be honest: I seriously thought about staying up to listen to it. I also considered going to bed, but setting my alarm for midnight so I could wake up, listen to the song, and then go back to bed. I was worried that if I did that, I wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep!

‘Look What You Made Me Do’ Is Out And I’m Not OK

It started with a blackout. Taylor Swift’s social media accounts collectively were wiped. Profile pictures, posts and even who she was following was all erased. Taylor Nation went into a frenzy and #TS6iscoming began trending as Swifties prepared for a new album.

Then, 3 cryptic snake videos were posted on an otherwise-blank social media page. The same day as the last snake video was released, the internet lost its mind.

Because this happened:

Taylor Swift’s New Song

Screen Shot 2016-12-10 at 11.16.15 AM.pngScreen Shot 2016-12-10 at 11.18.44 AM.png

Taylor Swift just released a new song with former One Direction member, Zayn Malik. It is part of the soundtrack of the movie Fifty Shades Darker.

The song is available on iTunes, as well as Vimeo. Being me, I flipped out when I heard the song was released. As you may remember, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles–another member of One Direction–dated a couple years ago, which might make things a little bit awkward.

Until next time,

1989 DLX

Blog post by Kiran Mathew.

1989 was amazing, we all know it. But now, the three bonus tracks are available on iTunes.

What are the tracks? There’s WonderlandYou Are In Love and New Romantics.

My personal favorite is You Are In Love. It’s extremely upbeat, with a blend of emotions. Part of my Twitter bio is even a lyric from the song: “‘Cause baby I can build a castle, out of all the bricks they threw at me.”

It’s a great way that showcases Taylor’s life outside of writing music.

Taylor Swift: Apple & Spotify

Taylor Swift saved Apple Music.

At least, that seems to be the case. She sent them a ‘love letter’ about why she wanted Apple to pay their artists during the trial period.

The letter is shown below:

As mentioned, ‘Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months.’ which is why Taylor took her album ‘1989’    from the service.

She also stated that ‘This is not about me. Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success. This is about the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that the royalties from that would get them out of debt. This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field…but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs.’ She makes a very true point.

A musician who just received their big break not being paid for 3 months! That’s a long time, especially for a new artist.

This event keeps reminding of Taylor’s incident with Spotify. She pulled her entire catalog of songs from the service last year.

She didn’t like the rule where ‘All music will be available for paying users and free users’. When Taylor talked to them about the rule, Spotify wouldn’t give in, so Taylor Swift pulled her songs out.

I personally think that was a huge loss for Spotify, because Taylor Swift has only gotten more popular. Also, Adele followed in her footsteps and pulled her album, ’25’ from Spotify.

2 great artists, pulled music from Spotify. It seems Spotify is only losing more and more, especially since ‘Hello’ by Adele and ‘Wildest Dreams’ by Taylor Swift have over 100 million views. That number is only increasing.
