The Dangers Of Ocean Trash To Sea Turtles (and other marine life)

Many people are aware about our trash problem, but most people aren’t aware how much it affects out environment. 2 years ago, the green sea turtle nearly went extinct, but thanks to extensive conservation efforts from the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, the green sea turtles are better.

Leatherback turtles eat jellyfish, as shown below. We know the difference from plastic bags o jellyfish, but underwater, turtles can’t tell.


Many marine reptiles are in danger because of trash, not just turtles. The Hector’s dolphin population declined 80% in the last couple years.

Help save marine animals: don’t litter on beaches!
